Last night I was fortunate enough to tick off one of my summer bucket-list items, and visit ‘The Island’ Sydney as a guest of Boohoo, for a Channel V Island Party performance by The Wombats. After seeing footage of Mark Ronson’s epic DJ set as part of The Channel V Island Parties series recently, I was excited to see what the Wombats had in store. Dressed up Almost Famous style in 70s-ish Boohoo threads, a couple of other bloggers and myself arrived early to get a few snaps of our outfits before hopping on a water taxi over to The Island.
On arrival we took it all in with a glass of rose & a catch up over burgers & chicken skewers – getting acquainted with the beautiful Sydney backdrop. It felt surreal finally being on The Island, floating out in the middle of the harbour and getting snap happy whilst waiting for the gig. I had envisioned sunsets & cocktails, but it was moody overcast affair and it set the scene for a magical show. Nostalgic happy vibes flooded in hearing old faves like ‘Moving To New York’ and there was loud chorus singing from the crowd and jumping up & down when ‘Techno Fan’ played.
A great way to see out the summer, thanks for having us Boohoo!
