Since getting back from holidays I’ve felt the need to refresh my wardrobe with some good basics. My new one stop shop for basics (and leather) is British label Boden, who are thankfully shipping to Australia!
Here’s some of my tips for choosing the perfect basics:
- Go for neutrals – think beige, black, white, grey, and navy. Although bright colours might seem fun, they’re not as easy to incorporate with others pieces in your wardrobe and therefore you won’t see longevity in your outfits.
- Find styles that fit you and then buy them in every colour! I always live by this rule… once you find the fit you love the search is over.
- Get creative… it’s easy to think basics are boring and not worth the investment, but it’s all in the styling and details. Think about how great a good pair of neutral jeans can look with the right heel, or how good a plain white tee can look with great layering necklaces. Basics are there to add to and have fun with! Use your imagination and get creative. You’ll be a stylish individual if you can nail a few basic looks with the right accessories!
- Stripes are everyone’s friend and always look classic! You can’t go past a breton stripes any day of the week.
- Denim shirt is definitely considered a basic in my eyes and I believe every girl should own one! It’s probably the easiest, chicest item in my wardrobe. I love wearing mine around my waist but also with a khaki skirt buttoned up for day-time chic.
What are your favourite basics? Hope you guys are having a great week, it’s good to be back in Sydney! xo
