Tucked away on Jalan Drupadi in Seminyak, Kilo Restaurant is one not to be overlooked on the busy Bali restaurant scene. First opening it’s doors in Singapore, and finding its way to Bali in 2014, this chic restaurant is a favourite of locals and tourists alike – and is now at the top of my list when visiting Bali! It’s minimalist décor and divine food make for a delightful eating experience in the heart of trendy Seminyak.
The concept of Kilo is all about creating a space where people can come and share food with friends (or make new ones) over delicious food in a divine setting – which feels more like someone’s house than a restaurant! Kilo Bali serves up all the Kilo signature dishes, as well as specials made using local ingredients – and is probably best described as Asian fusion. Some of the favourites are: Wasabi Tuna Tartare, Squid Ink Rice Black and White Prawn Raviolis.
Every space and building in Bali seems to be perfectly designed, and Kilo is no exception. Housed on one level in a modern building, it almost feels like someone’s stylish LA home, with lots of space, wall-to-floor ceilings and exotic plants outside and in. The vibe is minimal with exposed grey concrete floors, and timber furniture making the perfect contrast. Best summed up as effortless: a luxurious setting, but also totally casual and relaxed at the same time. The restaurant offers amazing value compared to what you’d pay in Sydney for dining of this calibre. The cocktails and food were out of this world!
With a delicious yet affordable menu designed to be shared, foodie’s and amateurs are guaranteed to be won over by the unique Kilo. Definitely one of my top five restaurants in Bali and one I’ll be visiting whenever I get the chance. A swanky but affordable restaurant experience not to be missed!
