G’morning from Melbourne! You may have seen on my Snapchat this past week I’ve been in Melbourne exploring the city. I come to Melbourne often, but usually not for more than a weekend, and I thought it was about time I come down and check things out more thoroughly. Besides, there’s too many cafes to try in just one weekend!
My first two nights were spent at an Airbnb near Victoria markets close to where my uncle lives. I was sharing the apartment with the owner and 2 lovely Korat cats!! Anyone who knows me will know I have a soft spot for these furry creatures. Korat cats are an unusual breed from Thailand and I’m told there’s only a couple of breeders in Australia. They were brothers super snuggly. I was in my element hanging with these two!
The next two nights I headed to swanky boutique hotel, The Cullen in Prahan to get my Chapel Street fix. Having never stayed in this area it was a nice change and I got to explore Greville Street for the first time. Some great cafes over this way too!
Saturday and Sunday I’m spending with my high school bestie who moved to Melbourne years ago. It’s fun catching up and having a laugh, it’s been too long. It’s a chilled one as she’s expecting her first baby. There’s nothing like hanging out with someone who knows you best and reminiscing about the good ol’ days!
Here’s some new things to do below which I’ve discovered on this trip.
Top 5 New Things To Do In Melbourne
1. Explore Hardware Street
Explore Hardware Street – there’s a bunch of awesome cafes all in a row, White Mojo, Hashtag Speciality Coffee, Hardware Societe and Bowery to Williamsburg. If you’re into photographing your food most of these places have dreamy white tables!
2. 2-4-1 Cocktails at the Mill House CBD
If you’re in Melbourne on a Thursday head to the Millhouse for 2-4-1 cocktails. I don’t know anywhere else you can get two espresso martinis for $17!
3. Head to Greville Street Prahan
Lots of hip and happening cafes to check out along this street – to start try Oscar Cooper or St Edmonds.
4. Check out Victoria Market
Fresh produce, pastries and coffee – what more could you want. Try Market Lane or Market Espresso. There’s also a night market on a Wednesday!
5. Get Your Exercise Fix in Inner City Parks
I went to Royal Park for a long walk – I’ve never been here before but it was such a refreshing park. Apparently there’s AFL teams training here some days. It’s a great way to chill out in the morning before a day of shopping.
