As I approach my mid-thirties, it’s felt nice to consolidate my skincare routine into a few simple steps. I wanted to share my daily ritual with you guys and talk about a few new products I’ve been using from the Avène PhysioLift anti-aging range, which was specifically formulated with sensitive skin in mind.
Inevitably with getting older, I’ve noticed a few more wrinkles, lines etc., and these products are specifically formulated to give youthful looking skin whilst fighting wrinkles, lack of luminosity and firmness. This is thanks to hyaluronic acid and retinaldehyde, two powerful anti-ageing ingredients in PhysioLift. The Avène PhysioLift anti-aging range includes the Smoothing Plumping Serum, the Smoothing Day Cream, the Wrinkle Filler, and the Eye Contour cream.
At the age of 34 (soon to be 35) my skin is feeling the best it’s ever felt! It feels plumped and I can notice my wrinkles are getting smoother. Outside of healthy eating and exercise, I put it down to my daily skincare routine and products I’m using consistently.
Below I’m sharing my daily skin care ritual to give you insights and a routine to achieve your perfect skin too, whether you’re in your teens, 20s or 30s or beyond.
Morning
I start my day with a big glass of water before jumping in the shower and kick-starting my skincare routine. I avoid putting scalding hot shower water directly on my face, as the skin is more delicate in this area. I’ll just sloosh some water on my face with my hands.
I don’t use a cleanser, so once I’m out of the shower I dry my face with a towel and pat some Avène PhysioLift Smoothing Plumping Serum into the skin. The serum goes on great and leaves the skin feeling plump and firmer. Following this, I use the Avène PhysioLift Smoothing Day Cream which moisturises my skin and is great for retightening the skin.
After applying both the serum and day cream, the skin looks and feels dewy and much more luminous. Then, I follow with sunscreen as it is an essential step in any anti-ageing routine. Then I’m good to start applying makeup.
Night
Nightly around 8pm, I wash my face with a microfiber cloth and warm water. This process completely removes makeup and the water leaves my skin feeling fresh. Then I’ll spritz a light facial mist on and let it sit for 5-10 minutes while I watch TV or check Instagram.
Afterwards I use a few other products from the Avène PhysioLift range which I’ve found to noticeably help with wrinkles and turning back the clock, with the added bonus of being formulated for sensitive skin!
Firstly, I’ll use the Avène PhysioLift Smoothing, Regenerating Night Balm. As with all Avène products, it’s rich in Avène Thermal Spring Water and it feels soothing on the skin as soon as you apply it. I cover my face, neck and décolletage and pat it into the skin.
At night is when I’ll also use the Avène PhysioLift Eye Contour cream. I am very fussy with eye cream (because I don’t often like their texture) and I’ve found this one works for me. It’s light enough not to feel sticky but also super moisturising. I lightly dab it around the eye and in the crow’s feet. My best tip: gently massage it in, but don’t go too close to the eye!
In the past I’ve followed the so called ‘rule book’ when it comes to skin care and used lots of different products like cleansers / toners / oils. These days I enjoy using products from the one range that work for me and keeping my routine uncomplicated. Like Tony Robbins said, ‘consistency breeds success’ and I’ve seen that come to life with my skin care routine.
