The last few times I’ve been to Melbourne, I’ve booked a central hotel in the city, arrived and got comfortable. I like being able to contain my visit within the CBD and know I’m still going to have a great experience when it’s only a short trip. A city like Melbourne definitely allows for this. Scroll down to find out some of my must-dos in Melbourne CBD.
1. Emporium at shopping – an obvious one but the shopping is really great. Three levels of Uniqlo, a massive Topshop and Gluestore. You can leave feeling very satisfied with a high street fix. Or if you’re looking for something more high-end or a splurge piece, there’s Furla, COS and Acne close (just to name a few!).
2. Bourke Street Mall – all the old faves, Ninewest, Zara, H&M and David Jones.
3. Meatball & Wine Bar – yummy meatballs of your choice with delicious sides.
4. Manchester Press Cafe – good coffee and New York style bagels, what’s not to love!
5. Waffee – coffee and waffles, the concept gets me everytime… a cute little place on Swanston Street located on a strip of otherwise touristy shops.
6. The Lui Bar – 55 floors up in the Rialto building. The legs go a bit shaky but worth it for the cocktails and the views :)
7. Chin Chin – a Melbourne fave. Lush Thai food on Flinders Lane. Chances are you’ve already heard of this one!
8. Arbory – a bar on the South Bank that pretty much runs the length of Flinders Street Station. Great for fun afternoon drinks, or a burger (or other stodgy food). Feels a little like the South Bank’s version of Bondi Bucketlist.
9. Hardware Societe – another chic little cafe for breakfast, lunch or macarons!
10. Chanel Flagship Flinders lane – if not to go in just for some pics out the front. The building itself is drool-worthy! See evidence here.
