Sunglasses Style Guide ft. Vision Direct

Jumping on the blog today to talk about one of my favourite online sunglass retailers, Vision Direct. After a whirlwind start to the year getting covid (eeek) and moving house (I found a studio in the CBD and living solo – YAY) I’m ready to finally start the year as of February 21.

As a long-term fan of Vision Direct, I was super excited to choose some frames and work with them on their summer style guide. I’m very much all about ‘Luxe for Less’ vibes and putting outfits together mixing affordable and high-end pieces. I wanted a cute pair of frames to get me through the rest of summer.

I chose DITA ‘Metamat’ (which have unfortunately since sold out – you can see other DITA styles here) because I’d always been curious about the brand. They’re beautifully made, and I can see why they come with an expensive price tag. Oversized shades are a must for summer!

Ray-Ban, Prada or Chloe are other favourites on the Vision Direct website with loads of impressive styles. They have so many sunglass options it’s almost impossible to choose, therefore I’ve done a quick round-up of my favourite styles and top picks.

Oversize

By far the best choice for summer. Oversize sunglasses radiate bougee holiday vibes and go well with white linen pieces and polished gold jewellery.

Round

Round styles look great on a slender face. Think Ray-Ban for small round classic pairs or Chloe for glam over-size round pairs in an assortment of pastel colours.

Logo Sunglasses

A massive trend right now is black sunglasses with a gold logo detailing on the side. This has been a trend across Instagram for the last few years and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Versace, Gucci & Chanel do this well.

Ray-Bans

Ray-Bans deserve a category of their own because they really do have the most classic, timeless sunglass styles. Not to mention they’re super affordable. I love the round styles, wayfarers, and aviators to complete any outfit.

Top 5 favourite styles on the Vision Direct website:

  1. Hexagon Ray-Bans $177
  2. Prada Cinema Evolution $295
  3. Prada New Triangle $282
  4. Chloe Round Sunglasses $446
  5. Ray-Ban Round Metal $177

Vision Direct have styles as low as $24 for pair of LMNT cat-eye sunglasses, all the way up to $1908 for a pair of Boucheron aviator sunglasses. My favourite styles are sitting around the $150 – $400 range keeping it a justifiable purchase. I lose sunglasses and scratch them!

Small face problems have been a concern for me in the past when choosing sunnies, and why I love the ‘virtual try-on’ on the vision direct website. You can snap a pic and see what different types of sunglasses look like on your face. It helped me narrow down styles and say ‘no’ to some straight away.

Vision Direct is also known for their huge range of prescription sunglasses and is affiliated with most health fund providers. Great if you need your frames fitted with prescription lenses etc. They offer free shipping, best price guarantee (they beat competitor pricing if you find another pair cheaper online by emailing their customer service team) and 100-day free returns.

Vision Direct literally cannot be beaten on price or their range of sunglasses. From DITA to Ray-Ban to Tom Ford there is something for everyone – men and women. Here’s to looking great and making the most of the rest of summer.
