After sharing my first post on Sydney Hidden Gems last week, it’s time for part 2! The Brett Whitely Gallery Surry Hills is second on the list of my favourite hidden gems in Sydney. I only stumbled across this gallery last year on a Surry Hills staycation, but it was an it’s definitely one of my favourite hidden gems because of it’s unique little art gallery experience. Brett Whitely is an Aussie artist most well-known for his avant-garde paintings, sculptures and drawings.
The gallery is small and intimate and used to be the artist’s studio – you can spend an hour here and feel content. Located in a back street it’s great to duck in after getting your coffee fix for the mornings. The studio is only open certain days, so make sure you check before going!
I love a polished outfit and in summer it’s harder to get right because it’s so darn hot. My rule of thumb is start with something very basic then add to it. On this occasion a simple stripe Marcs dress was a perfect building block to add to. I love black accessories and black in general! This little leather bag has been a god send and gotten me so many compliments. A red lip and neck scarf seems to be mandatory these days too :)
Hope you guys get a chance to visit Brett Whitely gallery in your travels, located at 2 Raper St, Surry Hills NSW.

How great are staycations for an excuse to find a few good local spots? Works for me!
