Because the coat of your dreams is out there…
I’ve built up a collection of winter coats from past years, but every year when winter approaches I still feel the need to invest in a new one. Call me crazy but it’s all about finding that one perfect coat that will be the ‘go-to’ of the season. Something that works with your existing wardrobe and adds an injection of life for a fresh take on last year’s wardrobe.
Here’s 3 tips for finding your perfect winter coat:
- Think about length. You might not feel like a floor length coat is your style, or you might not like a short coat that cuts you off if you’re taller. It all comes down to personal preference but if you think about length before you go shopping it will help guide your decision.
- Choose colour wisely. Probably the most important thing – what’s the stand out colour that will go with everything else in your wardrobe but also provide a new twist? My wardrobe is fairly neutral these days with pops of colour here and there. Rust seemed like a nice addition to camel coats from last year. Pink is big again this season too. Try a few on and don’t be afraid to stray away from blacks and navy.
- Investment is key. This is a big purchase that will potentially carry you through for a few years. Not to say there’s a need to splurge unnecessarily. There’s a lot of affordable options from online retailers like Missguided and ASOS without compromising quality.
