Following on from Spring Racing Part 1, Spring Racing Part 2 explores another look for spring racing season ‘separates.’

In the past, it has not been the norm to wear separates to a racing event, due to this occasion being very formal and dresses being more appropriate (no ones wants to see a belly button at the races!). However the trend of separates and twinsets has massively taken off in recent years and there’s a multitude of stylish options out there to embrace for the races which will see you looking timeless and elegant. International and Sydney local designers have put out some amazingly luxe options in the trend – think Nicholas and Minty Meets Munt. High street have of course followed suit with just about every store known to womenkind having options to shop. It’s a very fun and cheeky trend which will get you looking noticed on race day. You can be assured it’s not about looking trashy or getting midriff out!

Better part about it, if you’re having trouble finding the perfect twin set, you can make up your own ‘matchy or non-matching set’. Have fun with it ladies!

Tips to wearing separates on race day:

1. Try a full skirt or preppy culottes with a high waist – both perfect options for spring racing. Just make sure you can’t see any belly button!

2. Crop top is key, but getting the right length and only showing a slight gap between top and bottom – it’s all about class.

3. Fascinators go well with separates because they’re cheeky and play up the fun aspect whilst hats are more demure.

4. Your look doesn’t have to break the bank. Mix and match separates. I mixed and matched these two affordable pieces from Missguided who currently have 20% off all orders until 7.11.14. Best thing is you can incorporate them into your everyday wardrobe once ray day is over!

5. Mid heels are perfect when you’re on your feet all day. Try a low – mid size heels like these ones here from Mollini.

Once your outfit is sorted, all that’s left to do is pick a winner!
