I don’t know about you guys, but I’m never one to think about holidaying at home when there are so many new places to explore and travel to. In saying that, a recent staycation at the Cambridge Hotel in Surry Hills, completely changed my mind about the concept of a staycation! I’d never stayed at the Cambridge or even considered it, living not to far away in Darling Point, however I left feeling relaxed and definitely seeing the advantages of having a mini-break in my own city, with the Cambridge Hotel being the ideal accommodation of choice.

It was a girl’s only affair with a friend and I checking into the Cambridge Hotel for an action packed couple of days. We were pleasantly surprised to find a beautifully clean hotel room, on one of the higher up floors, with wonderful city views and our own balcony. Needless to say it got the big tick of approval! The room itself was white and airy much to our liking, perfect for an Insta shot (or ten!). We had a fun filled couple of days planned and with everything in walking distance – I started to see all the perks.

The first evening we got ready and headed to one of my favourites ‘The Winery’ for cocktails, which is literally just around the corner. After a few drinks it was the best being able to walk home tipsy and collapse on the comfiest bed imaginable! At this point I was already sold on staycation’s being the way forward (does that word even exist by the way?!). We woke up late the next morning and headed to Bills for brunch – which is also (no surprise) just around the corner. I’ve always wanted to live somewhere buzzy where you can step out of the house and find yourself in a busy street lined with cafes!

Following brunch we headed to some amazing boutiques around trendy Surry Hills, for a hardcore spring shopping spree. We stopped into Paris Texas, Wolfe & Ordnance (a newbie) and collector store – with pit stops at gelatoMessina for ice-cream and Artificer Coffee for an espresso hit. After that we retreated back to our room for a nap to rejuvenate before Vogue Night Out (VFNO) that evening. The bed was definitely one of the highlights of the stay – it was like a cloud!

Sunsets wines on our balcony were also a highlight of our stay! We loved getting ready in the room and taking our time (we were on holidays after all!). We headed to VFNO for some more shopping, before heading back to the hotel for an early night and a movie on TV in our room. Bliss!

The next day after checking out, we went to Baccomatto Osteria which is the Italian restaurant next door to the Cambridge and their partner for breakfast. We had an amazing Italian lunch (two courses for $25) BARGAIN! The pics of the food do all the talking.

Our stay was overall amazing and we left thinking the Cambridge was the perfect hotel for cleanliness, location and price – would definitely be recommending this one to our friends!

Thanks to the Cambridge Hotel for a great stay.
