Having not owned a car for the best part of ten years, I was completely stoked when Mitsubishi got in touch to test drive their new ASX Compact SUV. I picked up the keys with sheer excitement, ready to go on coffee adventures across Sydney!

First stop on the list was Balmain on a Saturday to cruise across the city, grab a coffee, and take the new wheels for a spin. Cruising over the Anzac Bridge was bliss in the ASX, with the windows down and sun coming in it felt like summer was on the way. It felt good to be driving again, especially the feeling of taking the gears up a notch in manual to get to the next speed.

Balmain proved great for driving (lots of alleys & back streets) but tricky for parking (lots of restrictions and tight spaces) but the ASX was zippy and managed to navigate the streets with ease. It was easy to drive manual (thank god I still remember how) although the ASX in automatic was a dream and was my preference for city driving!

Following Balmain and we wanted to escape the city and headed to Maroubra beach. It was unbelievable being able to change plans in an instant and head somewhere new. God I missed the freedom of having a car!

It was the perfect beach day at Maroubra and the sparkly new car looked perfect against a blue backdrop. I noticed a little coffee hole in the wall, which turned out to be ‘The Grumpy Baker’ so we reverse parked into a spot by the sea. I love finding a new coffee place when the coffee is 10/10.

Some highlights of my week with a car:

– Gelato Messina runs with the flatmates

– Driving the girls to Manly for lunch at the Boat House

– Finding new coffee haunts like Organic Bread Bar (must-do!)

– Cruising to Maroubra Beach mid-week – bliss!

– Picking my flatmate up from work in Pyrmont

– Driving to Sydenham for blog shoots

– Driving to the gym on a daily basis and my favourite ‘About Life’ in Double Bay

ASX features:

– Reverse parking cameras – possibly the single best feature

– Power steering

– Comfortable leather seats

– Spacious and enough rooms for my full wardrobe!

– Automatic glass roof with the press of a button

– Cool radio channels I’ve never heard of like ‘Gorilla’ music

– Sharp brakes and great suspension

– Hello / Goodbye messages – cute touch

Driving the Mitsubishi ASX was a luxury and my only disappoint was having to give it back!

Special thanks to Mitsubishi for partnering on this post.
